Antoon A. Quaedvlieg (1958) was educated at the University of Nijmegen and the University of Poitiers. Having earned his degree in 1983, he worked as a junior scientific associate at the same university until 1987. In 1987, he finished his acclaimed thesis on copyright and technical subject matter, for which he was awarded the prestigious Ruijgrok prize of the Royal Dutch Society of Sciences in 1988. Subsequently, he was admitted to the Bar in Amsterdam and practiced with Van Doorne & Sjollema, in the departments of IPand Litigation. In 1990, he was called back to Nijmegen to become a professor of intellectual property law.
Antoon is a prolific publicist on intellectual property matters. He has published on a wide variety of complex IP matters in reviews at home and abroad. Antoon is recognized as one of the top scholars in his field. He in particular has expert knowledge in the field of copyright law, database law, the protection of industrial design, and IP in relation to issues of insolvency and labour law. Antoon was elected president of the Dutch Copyright Association in 2004. He is member of the editorial board of the leading Dutch IP review ‘Bulletin Industriële Eigendom’, of the comité éditorial international of Les Cahiers de la Propriété Intellectuelle and of the Executive Committee of the Association Littéraire et Artistique Internationale ALAI. He is a founding member of the Trademark Law Institute. He became a member of the Benelux Council for Intellectual Property in 2008. | | | | |
