Chantal S.M. Morel (1968) was educated at the University of Groningen. After having earned her degree in civil and criminal law in 1993 and having worked in a Paris law firm, Chantal was admitted to the Bar in 1994. She started her practice with the intellectual property department of NautaDutilh. In 2000 Chantal spent some time working in a UK based specialized technology law firm. She became a partner of NautaDutilh in 2002. Chantal is the winner of the 1997 annual advocacy contest of the Amsterdam Bar Association.
Chantal is an experienced and highly accomplished all round IP litigator with a clear emphasis on technologyrelated matters. She has been involved in a large number of complex multinational patent infringement cases dealing with cutting edge technology in the fields of biotechnology, chemicals, as well as complex mechanical devices.
She is widely held in high esteem for her thoroughness and attention to detail. Her extensive
technology litigation experience has given her an in depth knowledge of all possible procedural
issues arising from patent as well as know-how protection related litigation.
In addition to her patent and know-how practice, she has carved out a strong niche in advertising with a strong emphasis on pharmaceutical advertising, representing several of the world’s best known pharmaceutical companies in courts and before various industry self regulatory bodies.
Chantal is an active member of professional organizations such as AIPPI, the Pharmaceutical Trade Marks Group, the European Patent Litigators Association and the LES Benelux and lectures on a regular basis on all aspects of intellectual property.
