Dirk J.G. Visser (1969) graduated from Leiden University in 1992 where he subsequently lectured and researched, obtaining his Ph.D. with a highly acclaimed dissertation on copyright in the digital environment in 1997. Visser was appointed full Professor of intellectual property law at Leiden University in 2003. Dirk was admitted to the bar and joined the Stibbe firm in 1996. He quickly became widely renowned as a litigator in the field of intellectual property handling a number of groundbreaking cases involving trademark, copyright, internet and technology related issues. Dirk’s clients include a considerable number of major brand owners, leading publishing houses and television production companies. Dirk is a prolific publicist in his field. He is the author of numerous scientific as well as popular books and articles on intellectual property and sits on the editorial board of the leading intellectual property reviews.
